I had the honour of being accepted for an internship at ISA on January 2023. Through this internship, I have gained valuable insight into the Think-Tank sustainability actions and concepts that are active today. I was assigned two research and collaboration tasks while at ISA. One included researching the sustainability and development of the ports within Indonesia and comparing them to the NSW Port Authority, concentrating on the sustainability plan and direction. Another one included researching & developing an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) roadmap. The research and development of the roadmap we provided would help give our client a business structure that developed sustainable core business operations with correct foundations to practice and mitigate environmental risks. This provided them with a resilient business plan moving into the future.

My internship allowed me to research and find topics in our world that I never knew which was very interesting for me. I really liked the way that I could be open-minded and search about anything that was interesting in my opinion, and I was not told to narrow it down into something very specific which could limit the things I could learn from. I think the researching I did at ISA really boosted my research skills which is very valuable for the future. During the creation of microblogs, I learned a lot on how these topics impact my daily life, which I could use in the future.

My 4-week internship at ISA was an insightful experience that deepened my understanding of sustainability and ESG frameworks. I conducted research on international ESG metrics like SASB and GRI for ISA's clients, analyzed corporate sustainability strategies, reviewed sustainability reports for accuracy, and contributed to ISA’s outreach by designing flyers and writing an article on ESG trends. This experience enhanced my research and analytical skills while providing valuable exposure to how global sustainability standards are adapted in Indonesia. The dynamic and evolving nature of sustainability in the region made this experience particularly engaging, and I am grateful for the opportunity to apply these insights to future ESG initiatives.
